New 7th Grade Samples just posted at WF's Van Morrison-inspired lesson!

http://writingfix.com/I_Pod_Prompts/Days_Like_This1.htm

Jenny Reynolds, who wrote this lesson during Rob's latest run of the "iPods Across the Curriculum" class just sent us her finished student samples for the lesson.

Check them out. It would be nice to see samples from other grade levels for this one.

Love this website! Can't wait to do more!

I just joined Listen up. I am so excited about this website and the results that I have already seen in my classroom. We wrote poems based on Ben Harper's "My Own Two Hands". I loved this lesson plan. I am also reading 3 Cups of Tea to inspire my studetns to make a difference.. Thanks for the idea!

Great choice of lyrics. Almost any dystopia or utopia story will fit with the lyric. I think I'll use this attachment with the story by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Harrison Bergeron Thank you

"Freewill" by Rush- a lesson on allusion, alliteration, and metaphor

I heard Rush "Free Will" song on the radio and was first drawn to it due to the allusion in the song- Lotus Land- in addition there is great alliteration and metaphor in the song. I've attached the lyrics and questions I plan to use with my students.I think this song would work well with The Giver and/or The House of the Scorpion as well. I'm new to the site and have appreciated what's here- looking forward to providing and gleaning great ideas here! Amy Cody- KYSee More
